Games Workshop has apparently put the Solaris imprint, founded by Marc Gascoigne and currently headed by George Mann, up for sale. I hope its bought by someone who cares that they're publishing some fine books (The Solaris Book of Science Fiction series, Nick Gevers' steampunk anthology Extraordinary Engines, lots of non-game related novels --and yes, Poe).

Via Cheryl Morgan who got it from Jenny Rae Rappaport who originally got it from Mark Chadbourn

It's a shame. I really liked their model of publishing original anthologies for mass-market and occasional trade prices rather than jumping on the expensive limited edition bandwagon.

I just hope they aren't closed down if there are no takers.

Uh oh indeed.

And I was really impressed with the Solaris imprint in general (which is a stark contrast to its Black Library imprint which is its more mainstream moneymaker).

Oh dear. Well, I'm glad the antho I'm in was released before this happened.

Those Angry Robots could have waited a bit and been Sunny Angry Robots?

What's the steampunk anthology, exactly? It sounds like something my friend would really like.

Unfortunately, I was never sent a copy. A few darker stories came my way to consider for the Horror Best of the year.

Hmm - I'll poke around and see if I can find a description. My curiosity is now wide awake. :)
